[edit]

Hello @Trade

I'd like to ask you to be a little more careful when moving files. The example above has several problems.

  • The move should not have taken place at all, COM:FRNOT Crit 1 and 2
  • You do not specify a move criterion "correct capitalization" or "correct name", this isn't valid summary. It lacks the move criteria and the link that would explain why a file was moved.
  • If a file needs to be moved twice in a row for any reason, please change your command to Commons Delinker at User:CommonsDelinker/commands/filemovers before the bot command has been executed, or make sure to manually change the filename in the language versions. Otherwise, the filename will be stuck in Delinker. Due to the double move, the bot will not be able to find the file and therefore will not rename it in the language versions.

Attached are the codes, which you simply can copy if necessary. Just add the reason for the move. [[COM:FR#FR1|Criterion 1]], [[COM:FR#FR2|Criterion 2]], [[COM:FR#FR3|Criterion 3]], [[COM:FR#FR4|Criterion 4]], [[COM:FR#FR5|Criterion 5]] or [[COM:FR#FR6|Criterion 6]]

Do you think the current name goes against COM:FRNOT Crit 1 and 2 Trade (talk) 03:34, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
It's simple. You should avoid moves like "Logo" to "logo," especially if the file was created by a German user, for whom the correct spelling is "Logo" instead of "logo." First is clearly Crit 1 and changing the language is Crit 2. זיו「Ziv」For love letters and other notes 14:09, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
You can't really argue that a logo and a emblem is the exact same thing Trade (talk) 02:35, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
No, but you can argue that they are close enough that there is no reason to move the file. - Jmabel ! talk 19:15, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
You mean that as a general rule or just this file specifically? Trade (talk) 20:22, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Pretty generally. If a file name on someone else's upload is not close to meaningless or significantly misleading, I would leave it alone. I even thought twice about [1], and if "Masp" had been appropriately capitalized as "MASP" I might have left it alone entirely. - Jmabel ! talk 20:31, 18 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism on Wikipedia?

[edit]

Why did you add this claim to File:2012-11-05-Freopedia-geonotice.png? Sam Wilson 01:33, 22 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

File:Royalty Free-For-All Kickstarter image.png

[edit]
Pay attention to copyright
File:Royalty Free-For-All Kickstarter image.png has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

  • This file is a copyright violation for the following reason: Royalty Free-For-All is not freely licensed. It is a game which remixes public domain works, but those remixes are copyrighted by AAAA Games. There is some plausibly confusing language on its Kickstarter page (e.g. “A Hand-Drawn Public Domain Smashup!” and “a public domain fighting game”), but these do not amount to licenses. The game’s official website (which currently redirects to Kickstarter, but is archived) says “© 2024 AAAA Games, LLC. All rights reserved.”
Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
